Blog Post #1: Rosa Hernandez
Hi everyone, my name is Rosa Hernandez it is a pleasure to meet you. I am a Senior majoring in Family and Child Sciences with a minor in Education. Currently, I plan on graduating in the Summer of 2021 with post graduation plans of attending Nursing school somewhere in Florida. I am a first generation college student, coming from a background that is Mexican-American and Nicaraguan-American. An interesting fact about myself is that I am a dog mom to a Tennessee Treeing Brindle Mix named Coco!
The prior experience I have with technology in an educational setting is limited to what has aided me in my academics such as Microsoft Word and Google. Although my academic career has required me to utilize programs such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs, I believe that my knowledge on these types of programs are surface level. For any use of technology in an educational setting, I heavily rely on Google and/or Youtube to aid in explaining how to utilize certain features on the different programs. I would like to say I am a quick learner on how to utilize technology in an educational setting, however, there are moments where it is difficult to maneuver certain tasks on a computer.
I believe that my personal learning network is currently limited to social media, which is not as professional as I would like my personal learning network to be. Although I utilize what I consider to be professional forms of social media such as LinkedIn, I do not consider it to be in my personal learning network as I do not utilize it in my day to day routine. Most of the learning resources I utilize are done online, including incorporating Quizlet into my studying habits and YouTube to get better clarification on certain topics. These learning resources help me in reaching my goals when studying for exams in classes that I personally feel like I am struggling in. Offline learning resources that I utilize to aid in my learning needs and goals include going to tutoring when I cannot comprehend certain topics on my own.
